Minsk is the capital and also largest city of Belarus, a city not often considered for a European weekend break.
Previously this is quite understandable due to the hassle of getting a visa, however nowadays the list of countries that may visit Belarus visa free is pretty long and includes all the EU members and many more (see up to date list on the official website: http://mfa.gov.by/en/visa/visafreetravel/e0ced19bb1f9bf2c.html ).
This would make Belarus a great weekend destination for those looking to go somewhere away from the crowds, but enjoy quality city life and food a on a small budget.
Below would be my impressions of a great weekend I spent in Belarus at the end of winter 2018. I flew in from Warsaw (>1h flight on LOT), and stayed at the classic Minsk Hotel.
